Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was a power hungry man that rose to power in Europe during the 1930’s. His domination and forceful rule had a great impact on the people and changed history forever. Adolf was born on April 20, 1889 in Austria but soon after his birth him and his family moved to Austria. Starting at an early age, Hitler was detached from his family and followed his own path. He began supporting the views of German nationalism and found great interest in their determination. These feelings he felt of nationalism would be the dictators of his life to come. At the outbreak of WWI, Hitler chose to join the German army and had intense feelings of patriotism and strength. He was determined to win. Following Germany’s surrender, Hitler was extremely frustrated and agitated with the government of Europe. Himself and the German army felt betrayed by their leaders who could not trust the soldiers to strive and win. The Treaty of Versailles, which completely sank German power, especially humiliated the German army and made them feel denounced. Proceeding WWI, Hitler continued his war efforts in Germany. He started to advocate anti-Semitic, anti-Marxist, and nationalistic beliefs. Hitler also began to recite virulent speeches against the agreements of the Treaty of Versailles and gained a following from this. Him and his following stormed on a meeting of 3,000 people to attack the politics and announce his revolution to establish a new form of government. This attempt failed and Hitler was left in distress however, Hitler’s nationalistic views and strong will to achieve success let him resume his actions. The Great Depression played an important role in Hitler’s ability to succeed because individuals were extremely open to new ideas that would help them escape the horrid period of time. Hitler ran for president and even though he did not win, he became a strong force in German politics at his position as chancellor. He used this position to gain a following and promote his ideas to the people. During his period as chancellor he was able to gain control of the legislative and executive branches of the government. Hitler was striving for his Nazi party to be the only party in control. Hitler was able and willing to push aside and threaten other parties in order for them to disband. In 1933, Hitler’s Nazi party was the only party standing in Germany and had total power. To add on to this power, the present president, Hindenburg died, and left Hitler to be chancellor as well as president. He now had complete control over Germany and his dictatorship would be established. As leader of the state, he launched extensive expansion programs for the armed forces and left the League of Nations. He believed allies were the cause of Germany’s loss in WWI and was not going to let it happen again. Also, one of the main requirements of the Nazi party was to preserve racial hygiene. Hitler banned different race marriages and did not allow for non-Aryans to become German citizens. The Holocaust was soon conducted and based on principles of racial hygiene. Aryans were looked as superior to other races and Hitler, and the Nazi party set out to destroy anyone who did not meet the criteria of the Aryan race. During the Holocaust, the Nazi party dispatched the lives of 14 million people. The Holocaust left an immense impact on society. It was a time of disgraceful and unfair treatment towards innocent people. It destroyed the lives of individuals and it brought to an end, the fallacious concepts of eugenics, racial superiority, and ethnic superiority. Hitler’s sickening dictatorship was frowned upon by many people and is looked at as a time of complete inconsiderate and inhumane efforts. Soon after the Holocaust, WWII began. Hitler initiated WWII by his attempt to gain land. Hitler’s involvement in the war was huge and his power continued to rise. He launched many attacks including ones on Poland, Scandinavia, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium. His determination was escalated when Hitler disregarded a non-violation pact he had signed with Stalin. Hitler sent 3 million German troops to invade the Soviet State and from this, Germany was able to gain a lot of territory. Hitler fought in WWII against the three largest world powers including Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union. Hitler’s strong strive for power and his feelings of nationalism were still very strong, however, being surrounded by three powerful opposing forces led to weakened power and feelings of insecurity in Germany. Also, Hitler’s health was diminishing. With all of this coming into play, the German army started to face a series of defeats. Germany knew that defeats were becoming unable to be avoided and Hitler’s declining would lead to loss in the war and demolished nation. Germany was unable to continue fighting and lost WWII. This was devastating for Hitler and the country of Germany. Hitler’s power had subsided and the power of Germany was lost.
Hitler’s decisions throughout his life had an immense impact on the world. He initiated a war that left many countries in distress, including his own, as well as starting a period of unfair and cruel behavior towards the people of Germany. Although he can be seen as distraught and sickening, his strive to achieve power was so strong that it influenced many individuals to do the same. Nationalistic views were spread and Germany, for once could be seen as a unified force. His actions he took to dictate and control will always be remembered throughout history.
