Henry Ford
Henry Ford was born on July 30th, 1863, and lived on a farm in Michigan.
Henry Ford was an important American industrialist. He is best known for his
creation of the first car and his innovations in the factories. Henry was very
interested in the automobile industry and felt unsatisfied on the farm. He soon moved to Detroit to start his career as a machinist. He then earned the title of chief engineer for the Edison Illuminating Company which he had previously worked for. Henry continued to work with automobiles and soon established the Ford Motor Company. In this company, Henry marked a period in history and created the Model T Automobile that was not the first car, but it was a type of automobile that was cheaper and more efficient for the American society. This was a turning point in American history that revolutionized the transportation.Individuals were able to afford cars and travel was much easier. Also as more Americans owned cars, urbanization patterns changed. Growth of cities also took place now that people were able to drive anywhere they desired. Henry’s manufacture of the Model T Automobile permanently altered American society. Another great innovation Henry established was the use of an assembly line.This process made the manufacturing of the Model T Automobile very quick and effective. His ways of production techniques were able to gain him wealth and resulted in mass production. His process changed the manufacturing industry forever. The motorized assembly line significantly cut the time as well as the cost of manufacturing each car. Henry gained such a profit that he was able to pay his numerous workers 5 dollars a day, which was good pay at the time. Ford believed that higher pay would result in happier and more efficient workers. Ford became known as an individual with a care for the common man. For decades, Henry worked at the Ford Motor Company and continued to prosper until later in his life when he started to suffer from strokes. Even though Henry died at the age of 83, his ideas and inventions continued to assist the people and were able to transform American history.
